Communications in Korea
The city of Daejeon hosts the Daedeok Science Town which is the location of the main campus of ICU. Most lecture rooms, administrative and faculty offices are within easy reach from each other. However, research laboratories and facilities are scattered throughout the campus. There are also a cafeteria, a dormitory, and a sports field within the main campus.
ICU has a branch campus in Gangnam-gu, Seoul where the Digital Media Lab and the Software Technology Institute are situated. A branch campus in Lithuania is scheduled to start operation in September 2007. It will be the first foreign branch campus established by a Korean educational institution.
At ICU, there is strong research bent. In 2005, ICU distinguished itself among its counterpart universities in the country by having the most number of patents submitted per faculty member and was chosen to be the seventh Auto-ID Lab.
There are seven research institutes within the university:
1. The ICU-Samsung Joint Research Center run in cooperation with Samsung
2. 4 IT research centers funded by the Ministry of Information and Communication
3. 2 engineering research centers supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology
